Why does this app have a strange name? What does 'lire' even mean?
The name: 'lire' is french for the verb 'read'. In case you're curious, here is how it's pronounced.
What sync service are supported?
Support for Feedly, Feedbin, Feed Wrangler, FeedHQ, The Old Reader, Inoreader, Newsblur, and BazQux Reader is currently included.
Will you add support for [X Feed Syncing Service]?
Adding support for more services is definitely on the roadmap, but I can't promise yet which and when.
Will you add support for iCloud syncing?
There are currently no plans for it. At present, lire supports several feed syncing services, free and paid, trying to build feed syncing based on iCloud will not match the speed, efficiency, or quality of these specialised feed syncing services. Further, by not using iCloud, you can use lire on iOS, and other clients on other platforms, and still stay in sync.
I do not want to use a third-party sync service, can I still use lire to follow RSS feeds?
Yes, if you do not want to use a third-party sync service, you can use lire in Standalone mode (without syncing).
Will you add support for Readability or Mercury to read full articles without opening them on the web?
lire has it's own full-text RSS engine, which means lire does not need Readability, Mercury, or any 3rd party service to read full articles without opening them on the web. It can not only open full-text of articles online to read, it even has the ability to download full-text beforehand, and save them in cache to read at a later time.
